Hue: History, Colour and Cuisine
After a lengthy plane delay, we finally made it from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue — a smaller, slower-paced city in central Vietnam, home to around one million people. The landing was a little bumpy, but our spirits remained high.
The highlight of the day was a visit to Hue’s Citadel, the historic heart of Vietnam’s former imperial capital. We wandered through ancient gates and palace courtyards, soaking up stories of emperors and dynasties past. The group enjoyed learning about the city’s rich history, and we were all captivated by locals dressed in traditional attire, many of whom were happy to stop for a photo.
In the evening, we cruised along the Perfume River on a traditional dragon boat. The setting sun painted the water in soft pastels, and the night concluded with yet another five-star feast — a delicious spread of local dishes. The group continues to be adventurous and open to new flavours, which has made every meal a shared highlight.
