Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City

Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City 🇻🇳

After a long journey from Adelaide to Ho Chi Minh City via Singapore, the Premier’s Anzac Spirit School Prize Study Tour has officially commenced!

Our local guide, Martin, introduced us to his vibrant hometown—Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Saigon. With a population exceeding 11 million, the city immediately captivated us with its dynamic energy, rich history, and sensory delights.

Today’s itinerary included:

   •   A visit to the Reunification Palace, offering insights into Vietnam’s political history.

   •   A solemn tour of the War Remnants Museum, providing a profound reflection on the impacts of war.

   •   Exploration of Father Tom’s Cathedral and the historic Central Post Office, showcasing French colonial architecture.

   •   An engaging experience at the bustling local markets, where we practiced negotiation skills and many secured memorable souvenirs.

A special highlight was the unexpected encounter with the South Australian Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, the Hon. Joe Szakacs MP, who happened to be on our flight to Singapore. He graciously addressed our group, extending his best wishes for our journey ahead in Vietnam .

It’s been an incredible start to our study tour, and we’re eager for the experiences that await us in the coming days.
