So, what do you need to pack for the study tour?


Based on previous experience, here are our suggestions....

  1. Items to pack - overview

5 Keep to a minimum – we will be quite mobile and large cumbersome bags are not advised

5 Passport: name clearly on very back outer page of actual passport. The passport is also in a plastic slipcover, or you may have a special passport cover, once again on the very front of the protected cover have recipient’s name.  (Note: this makes it easier when giving out passports when required).  You will give your passport to an allocated supervising teacher at the airport and at all other times, even on the flight, The allocated teacher will keep all student passports and distribute as required for customs transit etc.

5 2 x photocopies of passport (one kept in main luggage bag and one in small carry bag/backpack)

5 It is not recommended that you bring your laptop due to issues re: size, airport security hassle, breakage and security

5 Make sure clothing is labelled

5 Put a copy of name, address and telephone numbers in each bag in case of loss.

To pack in main luggage for the flight

5 Paperwork and itinerary

5 Toiletries

5 Insect repellent - mosquito spray (see Health Information sheet for details).

5 Small medical kit - containing hydrolyte, band aids, headache tablets, cold and flu medication, gastro tablets, throat lozenges, tissues etc. Gastrolyte and Dukoral tablets to be included.

5 Sunburn cream 50+

5 Trousers – casual at least 2 pairs – to be lightweight long trousers and shorts

5 Shirts neat casual – t-shirt/polo shirt short and long sleeved. You will be given   a tour polo shirt at the airport

5 Black trouser/skirt and black shoes for formal ceremonies on tour

5 Socks and underwear – at least 6. There will be opportunities to wash clothes – beware of slow drying cotton clothing

5 No need for jumpers but at least 5 changes of light weight/cool clothes it will be very hot and sweaty in Vietnam

5 Shoes that are good for walking and shoes for nighttime thongs only for the pool

5 Bathers (no need for towel)

5 Rain jacket (poncho)

5 Hat good shade

5 Folding umbrella

5 Small backpack to carry water etc. during the day

5 Sleepwear

5 Empty water bottle with name label

5 A few zip lock plastic bags – various sizes – handy to have

5 A few plastic bags for dirty washing/wet shoes etc.

5 A few pegs, a coat hanger and plastic string to dry things in room

5 Jewellery in (zip lock bag) keep to the minimum!

5 Mobile phone chargers with name label on

5 Electric adapters (for Vietnam).










To be packed in the small backpack for the flight:

5 STUDENT ID CARD and a photocopy of your Passport information page – very important!

5 A body travel money/passport wallet (can put passport and small clear plastic ‘wallet’ to put debit card, ID card etc in and hang around neck)

5 Money

5 Medications required (in clear plastic zip lock bag)

5 Hydrolyte

5 Travel sickness medication (if required)

5 Paperwork and itinerary etc.

5 Sunglasses

5 Notebook and pens

5 Mints or lollies (to unblock ears on take-off and landing)

5 Reading material novel, magazines

5 Camera - if you want to bring one

5 Mobile phone/iPad earphones.

When on the trip, what to pack in your small backpack for travelling on the bus and activities during the day

5 Mosquito spray (DEET 30%)

5 Small Medical kit – containing band aids, headache tablets, cold and flu medication, gastro tablets, throat lozenges, tissues etc.
